WHAT’S IN A NAME?

We changed our original name “The St Alphege Gilbert and Sullivan Society” in 19?? to “The St Alphege Amateur Operatic Society” to convey our move towards other musical genres as well as G & S.

In 2005 a further name change to STAMPS (St Alphege Musical Production Society) was decided as we extended our musical repertoire to encompass an even more adventurous choice of show and in a move to encourage a younger membership who, we felt, may have been put off joining an ‘operatic’ society. We welcome new young members and offer our full support to the development of their individual skills and talents.

We usually produce two shows per year, one on a large scale in the Autumn/Winter Season at the Library Theatre, Solihull Arts Complex and another show or concert within the Oliver Bird Hall. Our Spring production not only raises funds to support our main show, but also enables us to offer charitable donations to organizations such as

St Basil’s, Teenage Cancer Trust and RNLI.

We rehearse every Wednesday at 7.30pm till about 10pm in the Oliver Bird Hall, situated directly behind St Alphege Church. Clickhere to find us.
